State Parks in Florida are more than just pieces of public land. They are living showcases of the state’s natural beauty and cultural heritage. With a total of 175 state parks scattered across the state, Florida has made it a priority to conserve and share its remarkable landscapes and historical sites.


Is Florida RV Friendly?

Florida's state parks have plenty of options for camping throughout the state. Full-facility campsites for RVers include water, electricity, a grill and picnic table, along with centralized showers, restrooms and dump station. Maximum RV lengths vary by park. Sarasota County is home to two state parks, Myakka River and Oscar Scherer, plus myriad campgrounds and RV parks where you can pitch a tent or hook up your camper.



Can You Live in an RV in Sarasota County?

If you're beginning to browse land in Sarasota County, know that living in an RV is not permitted, unless it is within an RV park. You're welcome to park an RV on your residential property, but it cannot be the main dwelling structure nor can be connected to any utilities.


The Legalities of RV Living in Florida

There can only be one RV or one set of camping equipment parked on the property.

The RV must be on land that belongs to or is rented by the owner, or at the very least, one of the tenants. RVers must park their vehicles either on the side of a house or at the back.
